‘Prakash Parv’ at Patna

‘Prakash Parv’ or ‘Prakash Utsav’ is one of the most widely celebrated occasions of the Sikh community.

It is calculated according to the Nanakshahi Sikhism calendar and is variably celebrated every year.

The year 2017 commemorates the 350th birth anniversary of the 10th Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the creator of the gracious “Khalsa”.

The event is being celebrated with grandeur befitting the occasion and is expected to be attended by lakhs of Sikh devotees from around the world, at Patna, Bihar from 30th December, 2016 to 8th January, 2017.

International Sikh Conclave
An International Sikh Conclave would be hosted (22nd -24th Septemeber) in Patna, in the run-up to the celebrations of the 350th Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in December.

The Conclave shall be a one of its kind event that brings together accomplished Sikh luminaries from various walks of life (Academics, Sports, Arts, Politics etc.) onto a common platform.

Panel discussions (on the life of the Sikh Guru), visits to sacred Sikh sites within the State and cultural evenings (with performances by noted Bihari and Sikh artists) have been scheduled as part of the event. The Conclave shall thus provide an excellent opportunity for the Sikh community to come together and ring in the 350th birth anniversary celebrations in the land of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji.

Development of Tented City in Patna
As part of its endeavors, to provide a welcome experience to visitors to the State, the Department of Tourism has decided to undertake the design, construction, operation and maintenance of tented cities in Patna through a competitive bid process. The tented city shall provide accommodation and hospitality services to almost 55000 devotees spread over three locations in Patna:
Gandhi Maidan (60.91 acre) to house 30,000 people
Gurudwara Kangan Ghat (approx. 10 acres) to house 5,000 people
Bypass Parking Sthal (approx. 60 acres) to house 20,000 people.
