After Spicejet, AirAsia India, and Air India, IndiGo has announced more discounts.
Indian air carriers together flew total number of air passengers as -
In April 2017 - 9.134 million
In April 2016 - 7.932 million
as per traffic data released by the India's aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Budget carrier IndiGo, India’s largest passenger airline, alone flew the maximum number of passengers at 3.779 million. This is 41.4% of the total market share. It has a fleet of 134 aircraft and connects 39 domestic and 7 international destinations.
Till May 20, 2017 IndiGo sold tickets at discounted fares starting as low as Rs. 849 on select domestic routes. All such fares mentioned are far less than what is envisaged in the Government's regional air connectivity schemes. In fact, they are less than half of Rs 2500. For travel between June 5 and September 30, a few samples of IndiGo's discounted fares scheme:-
Srinagar-Jammu - Rs 849
Bagdogra-Guwahati - Rs. 851
*Chennai-Bengaluru - Rs. 1,119
*Delhi-Jaipur - Rs. 1,189
Srinagar-Chandigarh - Rs. 1,182
Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad - Rs. 1,215

*applicable on bookings made at least 20 days prior to travel dates mentioned in the promotional period across all booking channels.
However, the doubt that lingers is - Will all the 182 seats in an IndiGo's flight will be sold at these rates?
