Fastest Train of India Launched

The semi-high-speed train, which has been in the offing for the last two years, is finally being rolled out after numerous trial runs and delays. 
It will cover the distance between Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station and Agra Cantt railway station in 100 minutes, making it the fastest in the country. The journey currently takes about 180 minutes for a normal train.

The current fastest train in India is the Bhopal Shatabdi Express. The distance between Delhi and Agra Cantt Station is 195 km and It takes 2 hours 6 minutes of journey time. Gatimaan Express breaks the record of current fastest train Shatabdi Express and it will do this in 1 hour 45 minutes, saving 15 minutes.

Powered by 5,400 Horse Power electric locomotive, the train clocked a maximum of 160+ km/hr during speed-test trials. This train will be the fastest train in India. To achieve the speed of  160 km/hr, certain tracks on the Delhi-Agra route have been fenced off and the signaling system has been upgraded.

The train (12050/12049), will run between the two stations on all days except Friday. Taj Mahal is closed for tourists on Fridays.

After the inaugural run in the morning, regular service of the train will begin the same evening on its way back to Delhi.

Accomodation: The train will have two executive AC Chair Car coaches and eight AC Chair Car coaches. The booking for the inaugural run and for its further regular runs will open from 8 a.m. from 2nd April 2016.

The train has been indigenously built, with one train costing an estimated Rs 500 million, at the rate of approximately Rs 30 million per coach. The 12 coach train - with two executive classes, eight chair cars and two pantry coaches - will have hotspot infotainment options, besides being fitted with bio-toilets, LED lights and microbusters for good fragrance. It would also have hostesses for services. Gatimaan Express is equipped with additional security features such as automatic fire alarm, emergency braking system, passenger information system, sliding doors. These coaches are featured with a lot of tech shit including Satellite Television.

As per various reports, after Delhi-Agra corridor, Gatimaan Express will soon be launched in these routes: Chandigarh-New Delhi; Kanpur-New Delhi; Hyderabad-Chennai; Goa-Mumbai; Nagpur-Bilaspur and Nagpur-Secunderabad.
